1 none & 100,000 Depth of Field !

Presenting today a new brief technical publication (I’m sorry, it’s still only in Italian):

1 none & 100,000 Depth of Field !
that is:

In this guide the “newbies” of Photography will find all the basic concepts and practical examples that offer the necessary technical foundation to those who want to understand very well the Depth of Field; in the second part, the “experts” will find, in various theoretical and technical insights, with exact mathematical formulas, this important concept and – most importantly – will see its declination to digital photography, where there are significant differences from the “film era” and where specific assumptions and innovative methods need to be applied.

We answer the following questions:

  • Depth of Field: does it really exist ?
  • what factors it depends on ?

More than anyone have realized that the traditional rules of calculating the Depth of Field and hyperfocal distance … simply do not work with the new digital cameras … especially the ones with so many Megapixels! You may have wondered:

  • What happens in the case of digital photography?

We will see in the second part what are the peculiarities of digital photography and how the various factors for the current cameras should be managed. We will learn how to assess the Depth of Field with particular reference to the most popular models on the market, in a better and conscious way:

  • Nikon D5, D4S, Df, D810, D750, D610
  • Nikon D500, D7200, D7100, D5500, D3300
  • Canon 5D, 5D Mk.II, 7D
  • Pentax K1, K3, K5 Mk.II
  • Sony, Fujifilm, etc.

through the tables which take account of the real characteristics of each sensor.

Let’s start with the first part!
